CREATING
SUSTAINABLE
CITIES
An Ibex Earth led initiative that has been designed to secure £100 million worth of funding for 'sustainable city' projects,
tackling common urban challenges based around climate change, energy and air quality. To date, we have secured a total of £39.5 million. We are just getting started.
Creating Sustainable Cities is an Ibex Earth led initiative that has been designed to secure £100 million worth of funding that will be used to deliver and finance 'sustainable city' projects. To date, we have secured £39.5 million to spend on sustainable energy, plastic pollution and climate change adaptation projects across urban landscapes. This is only the beginning of our work.
ABOUT US
We act as an intermediary that connects urban leaders, decision-makers and innovators from across the public, private, third and academic sectors and catalyse action into helping the UK's cities and towns become more sustainable. Our aim is to help unlock finance and new funding streams that enable urban landscapes to deploy 'sustainable city' projects across four main focus areas:

-
Energy & Finance
-
Urban Greening
-
Plastic & Waste
-
Driving Urban Innovation

We establish 'sustainable city' working groups that connect local authorities, academic and research institutions, NGOs and private sector organisations (ranging from SMEs to globally recognised brands and corporations), facilitating work to identify and implement new solutions, innovations and approaches to common urban challenges that can be replicated across the UK (and beyond).

ENERGY &
FINANCE
Exploring how the UK's cities and towns can mobilise finance more efficiently to deliver sustainable energy projects across their urban landscapes, driving both energy and carbon savings, whilst building a better understanding of tomorrow's urban energy systems.
URBAN
GREENING
We want urban leaders to fully understand the benefits that urban greening can bring to cities and towns. From building climate resilience and enhancing air quality, through to enhancing human health and well-being. Green space is a vital component to any urban environment
We have all seen the images of beaches awash with plastic, it is one of the biggest environmental threats we currently face. Our work looks at how urban areas can tackle the issue of plastic pollution, increase municipal recycling rates and benefit from growth in the circular economy.
The UK's cities and towns face a big challenge to become more sustainable. Innovation and the introduction of new processes, services and technologies will play a significant role. We work to identify the most appropriate innovations that can help solve common urban challenges.
